Closing this chapter of my bachelor's, I am proud of everything TU/e and my internship have taught me, developing both soft and hard skills and bringing me closer than ever to my vision. Still, several goals remain unaccomplished, which is precisely why I am pursuing a master's. REform exposed where these gaps lie most clearly; limited stakeholder validation, a remaining gap in my engineering foundations I first sensed at Bestronics, and a desire to push further into advanced prototyping, CAD, and fabrication methods that let me apply engineering and design principles equally.
This led me to apply to the joint ‘Innovation Design Engineering’ Master between the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London, which almost perfectly defines my professional identity and is a natural continuation of my trajectory as a designer and engineer, as its dual-institution structure mirrors the duality I aim to work within. Stakeholder collaboration is a core part of the curriculum, offering exactly the kind of professional, expert-led environment I aim to explore. It sits precisely at the intersection of C&A and T&R, the direction I am committed to, and the natural next step towards my vision: designing technology-integrated products for the home that are intuitive, transparent, repairable, and circular by design.
